Step 1: Send Your Artwork

Carefully pack all your cherished artwork in a box and send it our way. Please do not fold or roll any artwork as it will affect the finished product and wrap breakable items securely.

Alternatively, we can send you a Rosie Art Box big enough (45x30x30cm) to fit in all your artwork.

Step 1: Mark Artwork Clearly

Write or print the title or any quote you would like included with each artwork. Either securely attach a note, paste it to the back of the artwork or write on the back of the artwork with a pen that does not bleed through.

Please ensure that your writing is legible.
Artwork with no title/quote will be printed without.

What type of artwork and how much can I send?

Our books can accommodate up to 100 pieces of artwork depending on your chosen book.

To begin, select your preferred book size (20×20 cm or 30×30 cm) and specify the number of pages you need. You can also add extra pages if required. Each page will feature one item. If you submit more artwork than your package includes, we will choose the best pieces for the book.

We accept a variety of artwork, including paintings, drawings, cards, notes, school photos, poems, certificates, abstract art and even 3D objects. For abstract artwork, please indicate the correct orientation to ensure we present it properly. Good contrasted colours and brightly coloured art looks the best! Keep in mind that very light artwork like light pencil drawings might not print as clearly.

Please do not send too delicate items that might get damaged during transit and avoid folding or rolling any artwork as it will affect the finished product. Rosie’s Art Books will not take responsibility for items damaged in transit due to poor packaging.

Do not be discouraged if corners are a bit creased or have small tears (these are little artists at work after all) – we will work our magic!

How does it work?

Easy Peezy!  Head on over to the “Pricing & Order Form” page and fill in the order form. Once submitted we will send your invoice.

When we receive your proof of payment, we will either send you the Rosie Art Box to fill up and send back to us (if you selected that option) or you can send us your artwork straight away. If you live in Cape Town and would like to drop the box yourself, you are welcome to!

When we receive your box of art the magic starts…

We will carefully photograph each piece of art, edit to ensure that colours are as accurate and eye-catching as possible and create a beautiful  book layout for you. We will then email you a low res pdf preview of the pages to ensure that you are happy with the layout. When you give the green light, the book will go to print.

The total turnaround time is between 4 – 8 weeks. We will send back the original artwork with the finished product, unless you would like us to recycle it on your behalf.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the book’s size and the number of pages you choose. Each package includes photography, editing, compilation, and printing.

We also offer various courier options.

If you do not have a big enough box, you are welcome to  order a Rosie Art Box (45x30x30cm) to comfortably package and send your artwork to us.

Why can I not order and pay directly online?

Due to our Art Books being unique and highly customizable, we believe that communicating directly with the client brings higher client satisfaction.

We make the process as streamline as possible with a quick and easy order form to ensure that you do not miss out on any special customizations. After submitting your order form, we will send you an invoice within 24 hours – keep an eye on your inbox! You are welcome to request any changes necessary before making payment.

Once we receive proof of payment, we will collect any additional info required for the Art Book via email.

As easy as that!

How long do I have to send my artwork?

Once you have made the payment, please send your artwork within two months. If you require more time, please get in contact with us to avoid a penalty charge. Art Boxes for orders needed for Christmas need to be delivered by end of October 2024 to ensure that you receive it back in time for the festive season. We rely on third-party suppliers that not only get overwhelmed over the festive season, but also shut-down early in December.

Please Note: Let us know before sending your artwork to ensure someone is available to receive the package.

My artwork is bigger than an A3. Can I still send it?

Feel free to send larger artwork. For items larger than A3, we recommend lightly folding the pages – avoiding hard creases – when placing them in the box. Flat items capture best in photographs. If rolling is necessary, please roll the artwork with the image facing outward.  Keep in mind that folds might be slightly visible in photos.

Can I send 3D and pottery art?

Yes, those are beautiful! However, avoid sending items that might be too fragile as they may not travel well.

Please ensure that you wrap breakable items very well and place them securely in the box to avoid them from rolling around. We cannot take responsibility for items that break during transport due to poor packaging.

Can I send more artwork after the initial artwork is delivered?

Unfortunately not, therefore please ensure that you send all your favourite pieces with the initial delivery.

Can I add a photograph or digital image to the book?

Of course! If possible, please send photos digitally as this will improve the resolution of the finished product.

All digital images should be send at the highest resolution possible via WeTransfer to info@rosegarnet.co.za. Be sure to state your name in the subject line and include any additional info in the message to ensure that we add these images to the right order!

Remember to let us know and also add a physical note in your Art Box to remind us of any digital images coming our way.

Do I get my original artwork back?

The choice is yours. We are happy to send the original artwork back to you with the finished Art Book.

Alternatively, you can select the “recycle” option on the order form and we will take care of it on your behalf, helping you clear the clutter.

Can I send art for more than one child in the same box or for more than one art book?

If you are able to fit everything into one box, please separate and label the artwork clearly to help us avoid making mistakes.

Can art appear in chronological order?

Of course! If you want your book to be in chronological order, please clearly number each piece on the back (eg. 1 – 30). However, we recommend allowing us to rearrange a few pieces to ensure a creative layout.

Can I place more than one piece of artwork per page?

We highly recommend placing only one item per page. Please ensure you send the correct number of pieces for your book. If you submit more pieces than indicated on your form, additional charges will apply. Each package includes photographing, editing, and placing one item per page. For instance, a 50-page book can hold 50 pieces of artwork. The only exception is for cards, where the front and back will be creatively displayed on the same page, unless specified differently.

What info goes on the front page? Can I choose the picture?

The title of the book is completely up to you. Once we received your proof of payment we will collect all the necessary information from you. Usually, the title of the book would be the child’s name and time period of artwork (eg Mika Lewis 2024). However, anything goes!

You are welcome to choose a picture for the front cover.  Please keep in mind that the image will be cropped to fit the page. If you are unsure what to choose, you can  leave the creativity up to us! Make sure you mark the artwork clearly with “Front Page” on the back of the artwork.

Please Note: The artwork on the book’s front cover will be displayed in the book as well. For instance, a 30-page book can hold 30 pieces of artwork including the artwork displayed on the front cover. Therefore you will send 30 items in total.

Can I add a title page and “About The Artist” page to the book?

 YES! We love doing these.

Title Page – The first page of the Art Book will feature the same title as the cover of the book as well as a small artwork image/photo. If you would like to choose the image for this page please clearly mark it as “Title Page” on the back of the artwork.

You are welcome to add any dedications or short messages to this page. Please write or print the message clearly and mark as “Title Page Message”.

“About The Artist”  Introduction  Section – We offer a unique approach to our Art Books with a special “About The Artist” section and this will go directly after the first page of the book. A one page introduction can accommodate about 200 words and one photo/artwork. A two page introduction can accommodate about 350 words and two photos/artwork.

You can either provide your own written introduction to include on the page or, at a small additional charge, let us create a special (and a little bit comical) introduction about your young artist. If you choose the latter, we’ll ask you a few simple questions to craft the perfect introduction, which we will send your way for approval before printing. Please mark the  artwork/photos that you would like displayed on the introduction pages clearly with “About The Author”.

Please Note:  The photos/artwork displayed on the “About The Artist” pages will be smaller in size and the number of pages in the book will not change. For instance, a 30-page book can hold 30 pieces of artwork including the photos/artwork displayed in the “About The Artist” section. Therefore you will send 30 items in total. The custom design fee for the “About The Artist” section does not include additional pages.

Can I add a dedication message?

Yes, you are welcome to add any dedications or short messages to the Title Page. Please write or print the message clearly and mark as “Title Page Message”.

Title Page – The first page of the Art Book will feature the same title as the cover of the book as well as a small artwork image/photo.

Can I add a title or short quote to any of the artwork pieces in the book?

Yes! If you would like to add a title or short quote to a piece of artwork, please clearly write or attach a note on the back of the artwork. Consider keeping quotes short and sweet where possible as too much text might overcrowd a page and distract from the artwork.

If there is no title/quote attached to the artwork it will be printed in the book without.

Can I make any changes to the pdf preview?

We permit up two to three minor adjustments, but complete redesigns of layouts are not included.

Examples of acceptable changes include spelling corrections, switching images or adjusting their size. Additional alterations beyond this allowance may incur a fee of R250 per hour for additional design work.
